Verification of Employment

Defined by Onias Derilus, Mortgage Capital · NMLS# 1859012 · Florida licensed mortgage broker

Verification of employment (VOE) is the lender's confirmation of a borrower's job, income, and work history directly with the employer.

What Verification of Employment means

Lenders verify at application and often again just before closing to confirm nothing changed. Self-employed borrowers verify through tax returns, CPA letters, or business records.

Florida example

A Florida borrower's lender calls the employer days before closing for a final VOE. Changing jobs or going from salary to commission mid-process can complicate this step, so timing matters.
