Mortgage Banker

Defined by Onias Derilus, Mortgage Capital · NMLS# 1859012 · Florida licensed mortgage broker

A mortgage banker is a lender that funds loans with its own money, then often sells them on the secondary market.

What Mortgage Banker means

Unlike a broker who shops multiple wholesale lenders, a banker lends directly and offers its own products. Some firms act as both.

Florida example

A Florida buyer working with a mortgage banker gets that company's own loan programs. A broker, by contrast, compares many lenders' wholesale pricing to find the lowest available rate.
