Do medical bills affect my mortgage approval?

Answered by Onias Derilus, Mortgage Capital · NMLS# 1859012 · Florida licensed mortgage broker

Very little. The newer mortgage credit models largely exclude medical collections, and most programs don't require you to pay medical debt to close. Medical bills rarely sink an approval.

Non-medical collections carry more weight. We'll review your report and tell you whether anything actually needs attention before you apply.
